Frequently asked questions

Crowfoot Glacier Banff (oil)

I have developed a method to successfully teach others to create convincing and beautiful landscape paintings. It works like this: when you learn a language you must learn the words which are the symbols that represent the real objects. So it is with landscape painting. An artist must develop a “pictionary” of symbols that simulate real objects in nature. This approach to landscape painting is referred to as representational landscape painting, which aims for simulated realism.

Sadly, most art courses do not render enough success because they don't help artists build up this picture vocabulary. Frustration and slow results are more than common with most amateur artists. They’re still focused on how to paint something rather than why paint it. Professional artists don’t think about painting trees, rocks, grass, etc. Instead, they visualize and produce attractive shapes. The solution is to depict designed beautiful shapes as well as where to place them. I part from the idea that there is no such thing as a bad painting, only different levels of beauty that can be intensified.

If you wish you can attend a free class with no commitment so you can see for yourself the way the classes are being conducted and to witness the students' art progress. We don't expect you to make an investment in time or money without being sure. Give yourself a chance to try out this innovative fine art teaching method.
